Character Limits and Ring Widths
We limit our engravings to forty characters per piece, but please bear in mind that if the ring size is particularly small there may be less room to engrave upon. Additionally, the slimmer in width the ring is (i.e. 1.8mm-3mm) the smaller the font needs to be to fit in and it may become harder to read. We will contact you to arrange a suitable solution if we think there will be any issues.
Sandcast Ring Engraving
Please note that as our sandcast rings are cast in real beach sand there is sometimes some graininess or flecks of sand on the inside of the ring. In some cases, this may slightly obscure areas of the engraving. This is particularly likely in palladium, platinum, and extra texture rings due to the properties of these metals or designs, but is less common in gold and silver.
Please fill out the contact form or get in touch if you have a bespoke engraving idea! It is possible to engrave images, special designs/drawings, handwriting or even fingerprints, so just let us know via the contact form if you want something special.
Each of our vintage diamonds is one of a kind – once chosen, it cannot be replaced. The diamond pictured is the diamond you will receive.
At first glance this 1ct Old European diamond could be mistaken for a modern cut stone. It has a fairly large inclusion which can either be displayed proudly as a birthmark or hidden behind a claw.
The stone has been photographed in a temporary setting and can be set in a bespoke ring of your choosing. The price listed is for this diamond set in a basket claw on a 2mm wide 18ct yellow gold sandcast band. You can see an example of a finished vintage diamond engagement ring in the final image for reference.
This diamond can be made into a piece of jewellery of your choice. For more information and inspiration we have written a detailed post on designing your bespoke engagement ring here.
These beautiful diamonds were the precursor of the modern brilliant cut diamonds. Each Old European cut diamond was cut by hand and with it’s proportions judged by eye. They were cut to best reflect and sparkle in the light of their era – candlelight. As such, they come into their own in yellow gold.
Compared to a modern brilliant cut diamond, an Old European cut diamond will certainly look a little less precise, but no two European cuts will ever be the same. What they may lack in the industry standard of the four C’s, they make up for with an abundance of individuality, character and a timeless beauty. Compare vintage and modern diamonds here.
Ethics are important to us. We are proud to use Old European cut diamonds in our jewellery as they represent and support an ethical and environmentally considered alternative to modern diamonds, as well as a beautiful piece of continued history.
